So I heard the city is now waffling on the Camp Bernal closing date again. Spineless like jellyfish. But while they keep putting this off, one of their drug addled campers tried to kidnap an 11 year old boy from a city park this week! We’ve also got a guy with a knife taken down at gunpoint at Taco Bell, the city wants to double the size of the Homeless Services Center, SCPD parks their trailer at Gateway Plaza, a couple of Scotts Valley car chases with guns, fire torches Aptos home, naked guy trashes west side house, creeper at the local high school swim meet, Watsonville gang banger busted with assault rifle, getting pepper sprayed in the face by the bartender, and we have a new K9!

Us is the number one film in America and that puts us in the spotlight. And the word I hear is people are afraid to visit Santa Cruz now. And I had nothing to do with it! But as for real life frightening stuff, we had a shooting across the street from the Boardwalk, we had a stabbing off 38th avenue, grifters get the boot from a West Cliff rental, the city council walks it back, fatal accident kills woman near Capitola Mall, burglary suspects shut down Watsonville high school, boat sinks off Aptos beach, body found in Henry Cowell State Park, smashing windows on Soquel, broken meth pipes, trouble in paradise, bigger biohazards being ignored, bum faceplants, row Jimmy, boys save girl from drowning, Vibrantly Honest, and more.

This week, we continue to show we can’t get out of our own way. This week, two more dead bodies were pulled out of Camp Bernal, there was also a fire there, dysfunction at city hall, gang member crashes near Manresa, fallen tree closes Highway 1, horsing around, not so safe way, tire slasher arrested, 22 times and counting, run for the border, accidents on Highway 17, and more.

We’ve had some wild and crazy weather and we’ve had a wild and crazy week! Mother Nature isn’t politically correct, we had a major shutdown of Highway 17 after 2 fatalities and a falling tree, a woman’s body was found at La Selva Beach, feeling good in the neighborhood, man threatens woman with knife off Western Drive, Bernal bum threatens to shoot Gateway employee, man arrested for trying to break into the county jail, kayakers rescued from rising river, deputies chase old man through Soquel Creek, didn’t pass the sniff test, another frequent flyer, busted for passing gas, vodka for breakfast, pedestrian killed near Brookdale, plane crash injures two near Watsonville, Juego de Payasos, and more!

It’s not quite as extreme as hell freezing over but we did get snow in Santa Cruz this week! We also had a carjacking in Capitola, gang kids busted in Santa Cruz, a possible shooting in the Beach Flats, the gift that keeps on giving, a stolen car full of needles, turn out the lights the party’s over, van burns near the Boardwalk, how many times can we fail here, a couple of creepers arrested near schools, killer denied parole, rojo caliente, local activist found dead on Cowells Beach, the Santa Mierda Podcast Network, and more!

I thought this was supposed to be the “slow” time of the year in Santa Cruz? The “off season”, with the Boardwalk mostly closed and a fraction of the summer tourist traffic. It’s never slow or boring here. This week, we’ve got a double stabbing downtown and a suspect finally arrested for attempted murder, we’ve got a woman shot and killed in Aptos along with two others who were shot and stabbed at the same location, we’ve got the usual recidivist stories about probation failure, tourists from Livermore, low budget thieves, cornholed in Soquel, nude motorcyclists cruise through downtown, Coach Creeper, vaccination fraud, Jerry Brown hates public safety, the Weekly Seen, Weekly Shoutouts, Unfiltered, and more!

This week, we’ve got another dead body found in Camp Bernal while local Gateway businesses complain about bad neighbors, there was also an apparent stabbing there, 23 times and counting, looking for his needles perhaps, community unloads on Bruce, a gift from the sea and county, appearances can be deceiving, arrested at the dump, where’s the beef, move it Chalupa, mail thieves hit Boulder Creek, Santa Cruz house fire displaces six, we love a parade, the Weekly Seen, Unfiltered, and more.

Well the rain didn’t wash away the pain this week. It probably flushed all kinds of unmentionables into a tsunami down the San Lorenzo river and out into the bay and ocean. Where’s the environmentalists and their outrage? In addition to the giant flush, we had lots of other stuff happen. Someone got stabbed in front of their kid in Depot Park. We’ve got another one of those horror stories you never read about in the local news. A house blew up in Felton. I’m just getting warmed up here.
