The Weekly Dump 6.1.18

We’re in full summer mode here in Santa Cruz, even if the weather doesn’t always cooperate. Last weekend was full of beachgoers avoiding the inland heat, and starting this weekend we’ve got graduations (and the traffic they bring). But we’ve got lots of other stuff to talk about, including the Aptos teens beaten in the head with a hammer while they slept, we’ve got lots and lots of poppy fields here, we had a couple of local home invasions, low hanging fruit and felons with guns, shears a beauty, Fresno thief arrested, bridge jumper talked down, please don’t feed the bum, truck thief arrested in Watsonville, gimme shelter, Badwill, and the Happy Story of the Week!

The Weekly Dump 5.25.18

It’s the “unofficial” start of summer (Memorial Day Weekend) so if you live in Santa Cruz, expect a mad crush of people trekking from over the hill. Until then, we’ve got this week’s hot news and views, including the officer involved shooting near Paradise Park, nobody wants this new homeless camp in their back yard, we’ve got brothers in arms, a security guard gets bashed in the head downtown, another typical meth bust, a couple of accidents in Aptos and Ben Lomond, asleep at the wheel, the art of the scam revealed, the Happy Story of the Week, Food Trucks not Bums, the Weekly Seen, and my ballot choices. The Weekly Dump 5.18.18

Like a true nature’s child, we were born to be wild here! This week we’ve got a guy shot dead in his car in the parking lot of the Boardwalk, which comes the day after a kid was beaten up and stabbed across the street from the Boardwalk. We’ve got a felon with a really big gun arrested (not at the Boardwalk but at a motel blocks away), assault weapons being made in Capitola, the questionable ethics of Sandy Brown, the needle and the damage done, dingleberries in Live Oak, drunk motorcyclist taken down, a half pound of meth found on Boulder Creek felon on probation, another head on collision on Highway One, opportunity criminals, another Friday night brawl, bum steals kid’s backpack, a karmic beatdown waiting to happen, napping in the hallway, new treatment center opens in Watsonville, Santa Cruz launches world’s ugliest bike share program, and we celebrate 104 consecutive weeks of keeping Santa Cruz “vibrantly honest”.
