Welcome to another edition of the Weekly Dump! We’ve got a public safety rally in downtown Santa Cruz this Friday night (yes, you read that right!) that needs your support and presence! We also had a bomb scare at a bunch of San Lorenzo Valley schools this week, we’ve got an update on a local Capitola rapist headed for trial, a boulder creek squatter gets busted, burglary suspect arrested on 41st avenue, no wonder they’re starving, 5150 meltdown on West Cliff gets tepid reaction from SCPD, oblivious or willfully ignorant, super pooper is caught in the act, the Happy Story of the Week, the Weekly Seen, and stay away from the brown acid.

It’s been an especially busy and crazy week with our espectáculo de mierda downtown. Of course we have to lead off with the psychotic criminal who tried to rape a woman in broad daylight at one of the busiest intersections downtown. Then there’s the Santa Cruz guy who murdered a guy in Watsonville last week. And let’s not forget the Outdoor World employee who got beaten in the face with a skateboard by a well known local bum. We’ve got guys getting hooked at the Hook, dogs marking their spot, bad man buns, shopping carts of stuff to cook meth with, looking like a fool with his pants on the ground, north coast campers busted, more selective enforcement, more status quo, motorcyclist killed near Bonny Doon, downtown’s new development plans move forward, setting up people to fail here, the Happy Story of the Week (and this one’s a real eye opener!), and more!

It’s been a wet week and it’s about to get even wetter! We’re taking a week off this week from complaining about the idiocy of the Hobonip, mostly because it was a pretty violent week even by Santa Cruz standards. We had a guy shot in the head outside a local fabric store, we had another shooting in Boulder Creek, a local gang member was arrested with a loaded gun, where’s ICE when you need them, a decomposed body was found near Soquel High School, fallen tree blocks both lanes of Highway 17 at rush hour, get a bike light next time, more Breaking Bad locally, details about new project across from Dream Inn, Sunset Inn razed, 501 Cedar getting a facelift, January crime statistics for the city of Santa Cruz, The Happy Story of the Week, Santa Cruz Music Festival downtown this weekend, and more!

It’s been another busy week covering the news and views of Santa Cruz.
