Yearly Thanks and Praise

It’s that time of the year. Next time you see me, it will be 2021 (unless of course you happen to actually see me before then). 2020 was a complete shit show dumpster fire of a year, but there are some things to be thankful for.

First of all, thank you for reading this. Thanks to all the thousands of people who have subscribed to getting the Weekly Dump delivered each week. Thanks for the support. Thanks to all the front line health care workers who put their lives on the line daily trying to keep us safe in the middle of an unprecedented pandemic. Thanks to all the local teachers who have sacrificed and committed to educating our kids safely, and thanks to all the local parents who have also sacrificed greatly for the safety of their kids. Thanks to everyone who unselfishly wears a mask in public, whether you believe in science or not.

Thanks to everyone who volunteered and donated and helped those less fortunate in the fires that decimated some of our local communities. Thanks to the local heroes that took down a killer and saved lives. Thanks to Ron, the hardest working man in Santa Cruz. Thanks to the Santa Cruz Rangers. Look what’s happened to San Lorenzo park since they got run over by Andy Mills and the POA bus. Gone but not forgotten, and missed. Thanks to Manu for finally giving us a sensible alternative to the incumbent in the 3rd District of Santa Cruz. Thanks to Brent for making a difference to the local homeless, and also because me thanking him here will make his critics heads collectively explode. Keep swimming against the tide of idiot compassion dude. The larger community supports you. Thanks to David and everyone working on that lawsuit to shut down the clown show volunteer needle distribution. Thanks to Sonja and Shebreh for stepping up for the community, and to Martine for continuing to step up. Thanks to Paige and Damon for their support and all they do in the community. And thanks to my friends, neighbors, family and boo. Here’s to turning a corner in 2021. As George Michael once said, you gotta have faith.

And with that I leave you with a little beso.

Get Your Swagger On!

I have swag! I’m working with Spreadshirt and have my own shop. I just put some basic products up to start with for now with the new logo. You can also click “Customize” and “Products” and pick from other products not currently available in my store. Contact me with any questions or issues. Nothing would make me happier than to see people out and about with my swag. I want photos! I’ve never asked for money, and I still plan to continue to do the Weekly Dump each week and make it available for free, without any paywall or ads or spam (or salary). Think of this as a way of donating to the effort and getting something back for your donation (I only make a few bucks on each item sold). I’d love to do more with Santa Mierda if I had the means to do so. This will help provide the means to do so. And it helps get the word out. The hell with the coronavirus, let’s make this viral. Being stuck inside is the perfect time for online shopping! I’ll love you long time if you buy my swag.

Thanks, Ben, and Merry Christmas. Interesting photo tour. Let us all hope that 2021 will not be worse.

  6. Beleiving is science doesnt always equate to having (or practicing) common sense.
Just like questioning the authority that uses “science” to guilt the masses into obedience, doesnt make you a evil or selfish.
Especially when the new definition of “science” is so obviously contradictory.

    • The key is understanding science, not just believing.

      • The key is using the scientific method. If you don’t want to do that, then its not science no matter what you happen to believe.

    • I wrote this letter to the editor which of course they won’t print because I’m de-platformed there (I send letters anyway to see how many they won’t print, up to 20 easy).

      Some say “science is real”:
Science is real until the scientific method says it isn’t, but scientists don’t always agree. What “science is real” really means is ignoring other scientific views or facts where that fits some purpose, and shame-blaming others who think differently for themselves. It is also a command to obey, unconditionally obey. We now have a 10 million person peer reviewed study from China finding exactly zero cases of Covid asymptomatic transmission. That science is not real because those who wish you to obey don’t want it to be. It is the same for study after study of the uselessness of cloth masks to protect. Rushed, only partially studied, never before used technology vaccinations are like carrying out medical experiments without informed consent. Or is it “real science”? What kind of political structure buries all dissent? The kind without freedom.

  7. Just the Facts

Say goodbye to 2020! Stay healthy and safe. I’m sticking with the old definition of “science” that helped us with Polio, HIV, SARS, and the raft of other maladies deadly to humans. That includes the Covid pandemic. Hopefully we have turned the corner with the help of the vaccines, masks, and a lot of social responsibility. Thank you Ben and everyone who has tried to make our city a better place. It’s not an easy task. Have a Happy New Year!

  8. Show Ron some love! Please donate and/or share. Thanks!
